Happy Mother's Day, Queens!
So on the realness... we all know that women are some pretty amazing creatures. But the strength, courage, and bad-assery that it takes to become a mom...
To either birth or commit yourself to taking care of a helpless bundle of pee, poop, and boogers for the first 5 years...
Oh you trying to sleep on me for five mintues...
#YouTriedIt
And then a hyperactive, non-stop talking, nosy-ass, lunatic for the next 5 years...
Going through all your shit, writing on your walls, and constantly asking questions.
And then a sassy, know-it-all, bullshit-talking, hormone-raging, angsty pre-teen/teen for the next 5 years...And then a college tuition bank robber from 18-21 (hopefully)...

I was literally at hand therapy a few days ago, and a woman was saying that it probably costs somewhere around $600k now just to get ONE kid from 0-18 years old.
#ByeByeBye
Now that number may or may not be true, but regardless, we all know that you had to sacrifice a lot of time, money and energy to make us into the people we are today. You could have invested that time, money and energy into so many other things that didn't require destroying your vagina, or your bank account.
You could have had unlimited time and resources to hang out with friends, travel, eat out, and shop.
But you chose to raise us.That's some next level bad-assery, if you ask me (especially with the whole vagina destroying part).
Sorry y'all. I know I'm an asshole for this GIF lol.
Literally none of us are worthy of your patience, your love, your guidance, and your constant self-sacrifice to see us thrive.
Me and my Mom Queen, Angela on my college graduation day.
And yet you STILL continue to sprinkle your Mom Queen Magic on us!This is a live feed of all blessings I've had to count over the years because even at 25, I still need your help on stuff. So here's to you, Mom Queens!Thank you for choosing not to say fuck all this shit, because lawd knows we all would not have been surprised if you had a long ass time ago, LOL.YAAASS MOM QUEENS, YAAASS!If you like what you read, please share, like, comment and/or subscribe to our email list!
Where are you going, Queen?! Check out these other articles before you leave…

So this is Jun Hee, my Asian brotha from another motha.
I also affectionately call him panda bear or my gay boyfriend.
We go waaaaaaay back to our high school days at Concord Academy. And fun fact, Jun Hee taught me how to drive when he was visiting me for a summer in college. I might have almost killed him a few times, but at least I can say he's a real ride-or-die.So yesterday I had an interview at UCLA for becoming a potential playwriting MFA student. Jun Hee is currently at UCLA for directing, and wanted to hang out a bit before my interview to wish me good luck.He ended up getting caught up at Whole Foods because this girl didn't understand that Whole Foods has this whole ass, complicated ass system when it comes to bagging and paying for the nuts. So I only got to see him for a brief minute before I went in.An hour later, and feeling really good about my interview, I called Jun Hee to meet up. And when he shows up, he's holding a container with two little melted pieces of mochi.
Ugh, green tea mochi is bae. Source: Kirbie
So Jun Hee is Korean, and he was telling me that in Korean culture, right before you are about to do something that you really want, you should try to eat something sticky so that you metaphorically stick to it.
My heart was going to explode from the beautiful symbolism.
So he was hustling to get me the mochi before the interview, but alas homegirl at Whole Foods was not having it. But it was still one of the most beautiful gestures someone has done for me, and if there's anything I hope sticks throughout time it's our friendship.

Hold up, Queen! The fun doesn't have to stop here. If you liked reading this post, you might also love these…
Boss Queen Vanessa Is Doing A 7-City Pop Up Dessert Bar And I'm Here For It!! #BOSSQUEENALERT2/7/2018 So this sistah queen over here is Vanessa.
Look at her just casually slaying over here like it ain't no thang.
But if anyone watched our series, Tasting Our Roots, you’d know I, affectionately, call her my “lil’ jar of sweet tea” in the best southern accent she’s ever heard. In addition to traveling the country, and trying food from some of the most talented and (sadly) underrepresented chefs around the table for Tasty…
(Left) Chef Nelson German and the Tasting Our Roots crew. (Right) One of chef Nelson's famous seafood boils.
(clapping hand emoji) DIS (clapping hand emoji) HERE (clapping hand emoji) CATFISH (clapping hand emoji) THO! OMG! I had no idea catfish could be an experience until chef Tanya Holland was like "you gon' learn today!" And don't even get me started on the mystical, magical sauces of chef Nelson German of AlaMar in Oakland (Top two photos).
We are also hella committed to seeing each other conquer our dreams in 2018 (and beyond cuz... duh).Like the day that I can tweet that I’m pre-ordering my cookware set by Vanessa Parish is all I live for.
And the day that I will actually use Twitter is what Vanessa lives for haha.
Now let me tell y’all, Nessa knows how to throw DOWN in the kitchen, but she really knows how to put her foot in it when it comes to sweets. She has a cookie business that you can check out here, but be careful. These cookies are dangerously good.
She (obvi) made me a cookie cake for my 25th birthday that everyone was OBSESSED with.
But if you’re like me, and you really love getting fresh out the oven treats, and you happen to live in the Oakland area then... YAAASS QUEEN! I got the best news for you...Vanessa is being one of the most bad ass boss queens I know, and challenged herself to do a seven-city pop up dessert bar called TORCH by Vanessa Parish.

So I got a notification from Instagram that someone tagged me in a post. I wasn’t sure what it would be for, but when I went to look... my heart just swelled.
I haven’t even officially launched the site yet, and seeing my logo and those words on her poster just completely reinvigorated my spirit.
Like any human being going after their dream, I deal with imposter syndrome like crazy.
It’s definitely lessened throughout time, or else I wouldn’t be writing on this very site that I built. But it still gets ya from time to time.
But when I see stuff like this, my work or my words being integrated into people’s every day lives and serving a purpose… It’s always the jolt of confidence I need to turn to my imposter syndrome and be like “Ha! Bitch you thought you was gonna shake me, but I’m out here changing lives one poster at a time.”
So to @BlackGirlMagiic_ thank you so much for thinking to share that with me. I know it seems like such a small gesture, but it truly did mean the world to me and I got so much love for you!

Sending y'all lots of love, peace, and unapologetic fierceness for this new year!
Hope you did something fun, or spent it with the amazing people in your Queendom! Here is a peep into how my night went.
So the photo above is super cute, right? Well if only y'all knew how many times it took to get there... lol.
Like for real, for real... this was a damn mess haha.
But we got there... eventually.
So I definitely needed a thirst trap because... this outfit y'all...
But of course, as any good friends would do... they had to troll me. LOL.
So we eventually leave the house party that we're at, and head out to a club where we meet up with another amazing friend of mine from high school. Her name is Rachel, and she's off being a badass computer programmer in Germany right now. But the holiday time is the one time of year I get to see her beautiful face.
And then we danced our asses off until about 2 am, and crashed at Kendall's-- nothing too crazy. All in all, it was a really fun and beautiful way to start the year, and I couldn't have asked for a better Queendom to share the night with.
So here's to hoping that you also shared an amazing night with your Queendom! I can't wait to see how bright our crowns are gonna be shinin' in 2018!
In love, peace, and unapologetic fierceness,

HI QUEENS!!! I just wanted to take a moment to royally welcome you to my Queendom.
If you're not sure what a Queendom is or how it works, then don't worry, queen. I got chu--Just keep reading.
Your Queendom is essentially one of the most important safe spaces you can create for yourself.
For many years, I have received messages from people all over the world asking about how I learned to feel good in my skin-- especially after learning about the various struggles I've gone through with mental health, romantic relationships, self-esteem, body image, and self-love.
And when I really took the time to think about it, I discovered that much of my ability to learn how to love myself on my own terms came from the amazing energy/love of the people I kept closest to me.
Your Queendom is about so much more than just "BFFs" or "squad goals." It is about learning how to cultivate and sustain an unquestionable loving energy from the people in your life that frees your mind of self-doubt and insecurity.
Many people talk about looking for unconditional love, but I think for me, I have found my strength in surrounding myself with an unquestionable love. It is a love that I can always intrinsically feel regardless of whether or not those people agree with or see eye to eye with my choices.
Now this doesn't mean that they don't question me-- they definitely love to keep it real. But, in my mind, I see them as the people that give me pause, and that give me purpose. They ask me questions/give me feedback to make me pause, but it's only because they are invested in me finding my true purpose... which is always to slay.
They give you the strength to do what queens do best-- always keep it moving!
They will not let you get caught in doubt and fear. And couldn't even think twice about letting that head of yours sulk to the ground. They wouldn't dare let the world miss one minute of your beautifully beaming crown.
Now a lot of figuring out how to cultivate this kind of energy in your life will require that you develop a strong relationship with your intuition, which is otherwise called "gut feelings." But I'll write more on how you can do that later.
So I created this blog, not only to shout out the amazing, beautiful souls that I am so lucky to call family, friends, or fans, but I hope that it serves as an example for anyone looking to build their Queendom as to what qualities and traits you should look for in the people you allow to be closest to you.
I know a lot of us struggle with figuring out how to maintain the right relationships, but in 2018 and beyond, I'm committed to helping you create a Queendom full of unquestionable loving energy that makes everyone around you want to say "YAAASS QUEEN!" So I hope you're as excited as I am.
In love, peace, and unapologetic fierceness,
